p. 392: "J.P. Dickinson joined the Methodist Church in 1819, when about seventeen. He gave fifty-one years in the service of our Christ, as an exhorter, and then as a local and an itinerant minister. For many years his service was in the Georgia Conference, transferring to the Alabama in 1857. Here he served Lafayette, Crawford, Troy and Orion, Brundidge, Union and Villula, superannuating in the last named community."
