A glassblower by training, William was transported to Charles CityCounty, Virginia in 1655 by Howell Pryse as an indentured servant. Hewas then transported to Baltimore City, Maryland in 1665 and completedhis indenture by 1679. On January 8, 1679, he purchased 400 acres westof the Rappahannock River in Westmoreland County, VA (now known as KingGeorge Co, VA) per the VA Deeds, Book 6, pp 92-93.200
