Ancestry
Edward Mobley, his six sons and two son-in-laws joined with the partisan band of Francis Marion, Sumter, and Pickens. They help to arrest Cornwallis on his march northward. and prevent the British commander from reaching Portsmouth and receiving reinforcements from New York with which to surround and capture ashington's army.....See Mc Crudy's "History of South Carolina" and "The Mobleys and Their Connections" page 22

King's Montain and Its Hereos: History of the Battle of King's Mountain
...The North Carolina battalion under Colonel Ambrose Mills, and the six South Carolina battalions--Cunningham's, Kirkland's, Clary's, King's, Gibbs' and Plummer's were there in camp, while Lieutenant-Colonel John Philips, battalion, and another, were stationed at Edward Mobley's settlement, in the adjoining county of Fairfield, some twenty-five miles distant....

Estate Division of William Hill of Fairfield County, 1798
The petition of Abel Hill humbly sheweth unto your honors that your petitioner is twenty one years of age, and that he is the son of William Hill, late of Fairfield County, deceased. That the said William died leaving seven children, besides your petitioner, to wit, Richard, Samuel, Elijah, Elizabeth, John and Mary. And that the said William Hill at the time of his decease did own in fee simple the following tracts of land, situate in Fairfield Co., to wit, one tract containing 203 acs. bounded NW on land of Darcus Hill, SW on William Hill's land, SE on Richard Hill's land, NE on Bean's (sic - Beam) land, originally granted to Darcus Hill and conveyed by her to the said William Hill on 6 Jan. 1793; one other tract containing 120 acs. on the waters of Beaver Creek, a branch of Broad River, being part of two tracts, one granted to Henry Rogers, the other granted to Adam Efort, bounding SW on Willian Hill's land, SE on Joseph McDonald's land and by a branch, N by Edward Moberly's land and SW (sic) on Edward Moberly's land; one other tract on Beaver Creek, north side of Broad River, granted to Wm. Hill containing only 10 acs., being part of a tract containing 50 acs.; one other tract containing 127 acs. on a branch of Beaver Creek, waters of Broad River, joining land of Peter Lemley, and known by the name of Lemley's plantation; one other tract containing 318 acs. sold by William Moberly and Mary Moberly to the said William Hill, granted to Job Meadows on 17 March 1760; also, one other tract (conveyed to the said William Hill in the same Deed of Conveyance with the last) containing 118 acs. originally granted to John Moberly 26 April 1774 but some part (not known how much) sold off from this last mentioned tract; and part of one other tract containing 80 acs. in the whole, lying in Fairfield County as appears by Grant.
