Notes for Lucy E. Rousseau
Lucy Rousseau Dickinson died in Oneonta, Alabama, 1 October 1897 of appendicitis. She had been in excellent health and when she became ill, the doctor did not know much about appendicitis and treated her for something else. The doctor who treated her admitted this to her husband many years after her death. Lucy's obituary in the Blount County News Dispatch, Oneonta, Alabama, Thursday, October 7, 1897, reads as follows:

"Mrs Lucy E., wife of W.F.Dickinson, died October 1st (Friday) and was buried Saturday. She was a woman of high character, rare culture and of eminent, sweet disposition, gentle, gracious manner and deep piety." Just before her death she said, "It does not seem like death, but surely the passing from one life to another. I am prepared for the change. I am trusting in the promises of my Savior; and they are precious promises to me."
