Notes for WALTER PITTS: Witnessed papers in 1735. - Will made Feb. 1770. - Died before 2 May 1770 - May Court. Will Book L (1755-1781) pages 265-267. Wilson Williams apointed guardian of son, Henry til age 21. Noel not in will. Probably born after Walter's death. Will witnessed by John Williams, Thomas Hill, Sr.,Jesse Williams and Francis Williams.

Marriage of Walter Pitt of N.C. and Martha Williams, d/o Nicholas Williams Surety-John Williams of N.C. Witnesses-Richard Kello, Ann Williams and Elizabeth Williams.

Walter Pitts witnessed the will of Samuel Williams written 16 April 1736. Nov. Ct. 1736 - Bertie Co., N.C. - N.C. Abstracts of Wills 1690-1760, p. 412

will specifies what will be the inheritance depending on whether the child is a boy or a girl. A boy would get land and a girl would not.

WILL OF WALTER PITTS

Halifax County, North Carolina Will Book 2, pp 264-267 [abstracted]:

I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty God.  To be buried in a Christian manner.

Item: To my son Hard Pitts 320 acres of purchase patent land and one negro called Bobb & one ball-faced mare he already has & one feather bedd and his furniture, and 5 cows and calves and my whip saw & other carpenters tools, and 10 pounds in gold or silver.

Item:To my son Mark Pitts 400 acres of land and 2 negroes named Sam and Philip and feather bed and furniture, one ball-faced mare that is his and 2 cows and calves and 10 pounds in gold or silver.

Item: To my son Lewis Pitts 309 acres of land and one negro called Tom and 20 pounds in gold or silver.

Item:To my son Henry Pitts the remaining part of that tract of land I gave to my son Lewis Pitts; also 2 negros named Peter and Becket, and 10 pounds in gold or silver.

Item: To my son John Pitts one negro man called Ben and my still, but not that it shall be moved nor hired out until he shall arrive to years to choose a guardian and also I give him 10 pounds in gold or silver.

Item: To my daughter Tamer Pitts two negroes called young Lidd and old Lidd, my sorrel pacing mare and one side sadle and bridle and 10 pounds on gold or silver, a feather bed, two cows and calves.

Item: To my daughter Silvia Pitts two negroes called Aggy and Ned, one black horse and one side sadle and bridle, one feather bed and furniture and two cows and calves and 10 pounds in gold or silver.

Item: To my daughter Celia Pitts two negroes called Titus and Deanna and 10 pounds Proc. money and also 10 pounds in gold or silver.

Item: To my daughter Patiena Pitts one negro called Barbary and 10 pounds in gold or silver.

Item: To the child my wife goes with now one negro calloed Beck and 10 pounds in gold or silver.

Item: I lend to my beloved wife Martha Pitts the manor plantation where we now live; also I lend her my negroes Amy and Tenny and Jack and [illegible] during her life and also I lend her my negroes Jesse and Bedlam during her widow hood and as for the rest of my Estate which I have not given away, I give to her to her own disposal. Now after the marriage or death of my beloved wife Martha Pitts what I have lent her I leave to be divided between her three children. Now if my wife should be delivered of a son he shall have one half of the manor plantation with his brother Jno Pitts; but if a daughter only to have her part of the other estate lent to my Beloved wife.  It is not my will and desire that any of my estate should be sold, but that my lawful debts should be paid out of it by my executors.

I appoint Wilson Williams to have care and management of my son Henry Pitts and all  his estate until he shall arive to the age of 21 years.

I appount my beloved wife Martha my executrix and my son Hard Pitts my executor.
